A County Durham church will reverberate to the sound of music on Friday June 21. St Michael & All Angels, in Witton Gilbert, will host a Midsummer Concert featuring popular, folk and jazz music, beginning at 6pm. The concert will feature: Fran Minney, a singer-songwriter from Durham, mainly based in Leeds. Performs with acoustic guitar, covering a range of genres from pop to rock and folkier elements. Has performed at open mic nights and gigs in the North-East Hannah Ward, a guitarist and vocalist from Shiney Row, Sunderland, a regular busker in Houghton-le-Spring and Sunderland Meena Daneshyar, from Spennymoor, a singer who also plays piano, guitar sax and clarinet. She was in Durham County Youth Choir for five years before she went to Newcastle University last year to study music. Has performed in venues including Durham Cathedral Bethany Robson. Having lived in Murton all her life, she recently moved to Newcastle to study music at Newcastle University. She plays guitar and also a range of instruments in local bands, including percussion, cornet and tenor horn in local brass bands. Plays tenor saxophone and clarinet in the City of Sunderland Youth Jazz Orchestra. Has performed in The Sage, Gateshead, Durham Cathedral and the Winter Gardens Opera House in Blackpool. This concert is supporting Breathing Space, a project to offer the peacefulness of the ancient church to the whole community.
