The Bishop of Durham is about to embark on a series of prayer walks round his Diocese, aimed at allowing him to find out more about his area and its people.

The Right Reverend Paul Butler will take part in two Prayer Walks a year until he has walked across all sixteen Deaneries of the Diocese after which he will repeat the process. The first two walks, which each take four days, are happening this month; Gateshead West starts on Thursday May 14 with the second walk in the Durham Deanery the following Thursday 21st. Bishop Paul said: “I love Prayer Walks because they are a great way to discover an area and meet people. “As we walk and pray together we seek to bless, and be blessed by, the people and communities that we visit. I hope that people will join me. It is fun, enjoyable and really rewarding to do.” The Prayer Walks build on a similar series that Bishop Paul held when he was Bishop of Southwell & Notts prior to coming to Durham. visit: and for more details
